Tanzanian singer Zuchu has publicly criticized the Confederation of African Football (CAF), accusing the body of failing to clear her payment following her performance at the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) final.

Zuchu was among three East African artists who entertained fans at the showpiece event, performing alongside Kenya’s Savara and Uganda’s Eddy Kenzo. The three were selected to represent the host nations during the closing ceremony.

Taking to Instagram, the Bongo Flava star shared a detailed statement in which she lamented the alleged delayed payment, saying the experience had left her deeply frustrated.

“I am writing to express my concern and frustration regarding the outstanding payment for my recent performance in Nairobi on August 30th 2025,” her statement began.

According to Zuchu, the problem stems from an agency contracted by CAF to handle the arrangements.

“As per our agreement with your agents at LEAP Creative Agency, the full balance for my services was due upon completion of the event, yet despite mine and my team’s continuous patience and understanding, I have yet to receive the full payment.

“My management team has been in constant communication with various members of the LEAP agency, including its CEO, Mr Roshan Soomarshun, to no avail.bSupposed POPs were sent, which then turned out unverifiable, suspicious and clearly not sent or paid out,” she said.

The award-winning artist stressed that she had given her all to the performance and expected the same level of professionalism in return.

“I have upheld my end of the agreement by delivering a performance that I dedicated myself fully to ensure it met the highest standards. It is highly disappointing to find that the same level of professionalism has not been extended in return when it comes to fulfilling your financial obligations,” she added.

Zuchu further revealed that she had made sacrifices to perform at the CHAN final, including canceling other booked shows.

“As an artist, I expect to be treated with the respect and fairness that any professional artist deserves. This delay is not only unfair but also completely unacceptable. As an artist, I dropped previously booked shows to be able to take on the finale show. I do not expect this unfair treatment,” she further said.

The singer warned that if the matter is not resolved promptly, she will be forced to take legal steps against CAF and the involved agency.

“It is integral that the balance is settled immediately without any further delay or postponement; otherwise, I will have no choice but to pursue further action to recover the funds owed. I trust you will take immediate steps to resolve this matter and honour the terms of our agreement,” she concluded.
