Former Liverpool and Newcastle United striker Andy Carroll, 36, found himself at the center of a police inquiry during a holiday on the Greek party island of Mykonos after two public disputes with his girlfriend, celebrity makeup artist Lou Teasdale, 42. The incidents, which occurred at a beachside restaurant and later at their hotel, prompted Greek authorities to question the ex-Premier League star twice, though no arrests were made.
According to reports, the first altercation took place at Nikolus Tavern, a popular Mykonos eatery. A restaurant worker described Carroll as appearing “very drunk and furious” with Teasdale, using offensive language that left her visibly upset. “We recognized him as the footballer Andy Carroll immediately,” the worker told The Sun. “It was improper behavior.” Police were called to the scene, where they spoke with Carroll outside the restaurant. He remained calm during the interaction and was allowed to return to Teasdale, after which the couple paid their bill and left.
Hours later, a second incident unfolded at the couple’s hotel, where staff reported damage to their room, including a broken door. Carroll was escorted to a local police station for questioning but was released without charges. A hotel employee confirmed the incident, stating, “Yes, they were staying here. He broke the door.” Following the hotel dispute, Teasdale reportedly left to spend the night at Soho Roc House, a private members’ club favored by celebrities.
Carroll and Teasdale issued a joint statement addressing the incidents, describing the restaurant argument as a “heated discussion” that was “blown out of proportion” by a bystander. “Whilst having a private dinner in a restaurant on a quiet holiday in Mykonos, we had a heated discussion of the sort that most couples have had on occasion,” the statement read. “No arrests or charges were made, and we are disappointed that what was a private matter has been made public.” The couple emphasized their commitment to each other, noting they were “upset” by the attention the incidents received.
The former England international, who earned nine caps between 2010 and 2012, began dating Teasdale last year after separating from his wife, The Only Way Is Essex star Billi Mucklow, in September 2024. Carroll and Mucklow, who share three children—Arlo, Wolf, and Marvel Mae—ended their two-year marriage following a turbulent period.
