Marvin Darnell Harrison Jr., born on August 11, 2002, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is an American professional football wide receiver currently playing for the Arizona Cardinals in the National Football League (NFL). The son of Pro Football Hall of Fame wide receiver Marvin Harrison Sr., he has carved out his own path in the sport while carrying a legacy of excellence. Growing up in a football-centric family, Harrison Jr. was immersed in the game from a young age, playing both football and basketball before focusing solely on football in high school. His natural talent, combined with the guidance of his father, has positioned him as one of the most promising young receivers in the NFL. Selected fourth overall in the 2024 NFL Draft, Harrison Jr. has quickly begun to make his mark at the professional level, following an illustrious college career at Ohio State University.

Siblings

Marvin has a younger brother, Jett Harrison, who is emerging as a talented football player in his own right. Born on June 4, 2004, Jett is a wide receiver at St. Joseph’s Preparatory School in Philadelphia, the same high school where Marvin Jr. honed his skills. At just 15 years old, Jett has already garnered attention as a top prospect in the class of 2026, with college offers from prominent programs such as Michigan State, Penn State, and Rutgers. Standing at 6-foot-1, Jett combines impressive size with elite receiving skills, traits that echo the Harrison family’s football lineage.

Marvin Jr. has publicly praised his younger brother, noting in a November 2023 press conference that Jett is “definitely more talented than I ever was at that age,” crediting their father’s early coaching on route-running for Jett’s advanced development. Jett made an impressive high school debut on August 31, 2024, recording four catches for 57 yards in a game against St. Edward, showcasing the same precise route-running and reliable hands that have defined his father and brother’s careers.

Career

Harrison Jr.’s football journey began at St. Joseph’s Preparatory School, where he set records for the most receiving yards and touchdowns in Philadelphia Catholic League history. A four-star recruit ranked as the nation’s 14th-best receiver, he committed to Ohio State University over offers from top programs like Florida, Michigan, and LSU. Enrolling in January 2021, Harrison Jr. saw limited action as a freshman, playing behind future NFL first-round picks Garrett Wilson, Chris Olave, and Jaxon Smith-Njigba. His breakout came in the 2022 Rose Bowl, where he made his first career start. In his sophomore year, he became Ohio State’s top receiver after Smith-Njigba’s injury, delivering standout performances, including a career-high 10 receptions for 185 yards against Penn State and seven catches for 184 yards and three touchdowns against Arkansas State.

Despite a concussion that forced him out of the 2022 Peach Bowl against Georgia, he finished the season with 1,263 yards and 14 touchdowns. In 2023, he continued his dominance, recording 1,211 yards and 14 touchdowns, solidifying his status as the best receiver in college football. Selected by the Arizona Cardinals in the 2024 NFL Draft, Harrison Jr. signed a four-year, $35.3 million fully guaranteed contract. His NFL debut was quiet, with one catch for four yards, but he erupted the following week against the Los Angeles Rams, hauling in four receptions for 130 yards and two touchdowns in a 41–10 victory, signaling his potential to become a cornerstone of the Cardinals’ offense.

Accolades

Harrison Jr.’s trophy case reflects his exceptional talent and work ethic. At Ohio State, he became one of only 11 players in Big Ten history to earn unanimous All-American honors twice, achieving this feat in 2022 and 2023. In 2022, he was named the Richter–Howard Receiver of the Year, recognizing him as the Big Ten’s top wide receiver. The following year, he won the prestigious Fred Biletnikoff Award, given to the nation’s most outstanding receiver, after finishing fourth in Heisman Trophy voting.

His high school career was equally decorated, as he helped lead St. Joseph’s Preparatory School to three Pennsylvania state championships. In the NFL, while still early in his career, his selection as the fourth overall pick in the 2024 draft underscores the high expectations for his future. With a combination of elite physical tools—standing at 6-foot-4 and 205 pounds with explosive athleticism—and a refined skill set honed by his father’s mentorship, Harrison Jr. is poised to add more accolades as he continues to develop in the professional ranks.
