AFC Bournemouth have reportedly placed a hefty £70 million price tag on their in-form forward Antoine Semenyo, signaling their intent to fend off interest from some of the Premier League’s biggest clubs. The news, first reported by journalist Mark Douglas, has sent ripples through the football transfer market as the summer window approaches.
Semenyo, a 25-year-old Ghanaian international, has been a standout performer for Bournemouth this season, contributing significantly to the club’s surprising push for European qualification. With nine goals and four assists across all competitions in the 2024/25 campaign, his pace, versatility, and clinical finishing have caught the eye of top-tier sides, including Liverpool, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea, and Arsenal. Even Serie A giants Napoli have been linked with the dynamic forward.
The £70 million valuation reflects Bournemouth’s determination to retain one of their key assets, who has a contract with the club until 2029. Having signed Semenyo from Bristol City for a modest £10.25 million in 2023, the Cherries stand to make a substantial profit if a transfer materializes. However, the steep asking price could prove a sticking point for suitors, many of whom have been negotiating around figures closer to £40m-£50m in recent reports.
“Bournemouth are sending a clear message: Semenyo is not going anywhere unless the offer is extraordinary,” said a source close to the club. “They’re in a strong position with his long-term contract and their competitive standing in the league. This isn’t a fire sale.”
The interest in Semenyo comes as no surprise. Liverpool have reportedly considered including teenage winger Ben Doak in a potential swap deal to lower the cost, while Manchester United, under new manager Ruben Amorim, see Semenyo as a perfect fit for their high-intensity style. Tottenham and Chelsea, meanwhile, view him as a solution to their attacking woes, and Arsenal have scouted him as a possible upgrade on their current wing options.
Despite the speculation, Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola has remained defiant, emphasizing Semenyo’s importance to the team. “Antoine is a massive part of what we’re building here,” Iraola said earlier this month. “He’s growing every game, and we’re not in the business of letting our best players go easily.”
