The agent of Mohamed Salah has moved to shut down rampant speculation surrounding the Liverpool forward’s next move, insisting that no agreement has been reached with any club despite a flurry of reports linking the Egyptian international with lucrative transfers to Saudi Arabia, the United States, and across Europe.
Salah confirmed on Tuesday that he will bring an end to his glittering nine-year spell at Anfield at the conclusion of the 2025-26 season, delivering an emotional farewell message to supporters in which he described Liverpool as “not just a football club” but “a passion, a history, a spirit”.
The 33-year-old, who ranks third on Liverpool’s all-time goalscoring list with 255 goals in 435 appearances, had signed a two-year contract extension worth approximately £400,000 per week just last year, but has now reached an agreement with the club to depart as a free agent this summer.
Within hours of the announcement, Ramy Abbas Issa, Salah’s long-time representative, took to social media to address the growing speculation about his client’s future. In a blunt statement posted on X, Abbas wrote: “We do not know where Mohamed will play next season. This also means that no one else knows. Beware of the click-whoring attention seekers”.
The agent’s intervention came as reports linking Salah to a move to the Saudi Pro League gained traction, with clubs such as Al-Ittihad, who previously launched a £150 million bid for the forward in 2023, expected to renew their interest.
Major League Soccer outfits and several top European clubs, including Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona, have also been touted as potential destinations.

Salah’s departure, while now confirmed, follows a season marked by occasional friction with head coach Arne Slot. In December, the forward delivered a candid interview expressing frustration after being benched, stating: “I could not believe I was sitting on the bench for 90 minutes. That’s the third time. It’s the first time in my career I think”.
He further claimed that “someone wants me to get all the blame” and that his relationship with Slot had deteriorated. However, relations were later repaired, and those close to the situation suggest a verbal agreement for an amicable parting was reached in January.
Liverpool confirmed in an official statement that Salah had expressed his wish to announce his departure early “to provide transparency about his future due to his respect and gratitude” for the club’s supporters.
The club added that full celebrations of his legacy would take place after the season concludes, with Salah focused on finishing the campaign strongly as Liverpool remain in contention for the Champions League and FA Cup.
Salah’s farewell message struck a reflective tone as he addressed the supporters who have backed him throughout his Anfield career. “I never imagined how deeply this club, this city, these people, would become part of my life,” he said.
“We celebrated victory together, we won the most important trophies, and we fought together through the hardest time in our lives”. He concluded: “Because of all of you, I will never walk alone”.
The forward leaves Liverpool as one of the most decorated players in the club’s modern history. His honours include two Premier League titles, the UEFA Champions League, the FA Cup, two League Cups, the FIFA Club World Cup, and the UEFA Super Cup. Individually, he has claimed a record four Premier League Golden Boots and three PFA Players’ Player of the Year awards.
With Salah set to depart on June 30, Liverpool are expected to turn their attention to identifying a long-term successor, with Bayern Munich’s Michael Olise among those linked to a potential move to Anfield.
