Early life and background

Alexis Kaufman grew up in Columbus, Ohio, as the daughter of teenage parents still in high school at her birth.

From the age of five, she engaged in a multitude of sports including track and field, softball, and gymnastics, eventually becoming a cheerleader at Hilliard Davidson High School.

At a young age, she also faced a life-threatening eating disorder, an experience that deeply shaped her personal journey toward strength, resilience, and athletic purpose.

Before her wrestling career, Bliss earned an IFBB pro card in 2011 and competed in the bikini division of the Arnold Classic. Her athletic foundation and competitive mindset provided the base from which she would transition into professional wrestling.

Career beginnings

Bliss signed with WWE in 2013 and was assigned to its developmental brand, NXT.

During this time she honed her in-ring skills, character development, and presence under the guidance of trainers such as Mike Quackenbush at the WWE Performance Center.

On September 20, 2013, she made her official wrestling debut.

Her early WWE appearances included matches in NXT and periodic main roster-development tours.

She matured quickly in the ring, improving from her fitness competition background and embracing the dramatic and athletic demands of professional wrestling.

Rise to fame

The breakthrough moment for Bliss came in 2016 when she was promoted to the main roster and assigned to the SmackDown brand.

In that year she captured the SmackDown Women’s Championship, becoming the first woman to win that title and then later the first to win both the SmackDown and Raw women’s titles.

In April 2017, she transferred to the Raw brand, and within weeks claimed the Raw Women’s Championship, thereby making history.

In 2018 she achieved further milestones: she won the second-ever Women’s Money in the Bank ladder match and became the first woman to win a Women’s Elimination Chamber match.

Major achievements and career highlights

Over her career, Alexa Bliss has amassed an impressive list of championships and accolades. She has held the Raw Women’s Championship three times and the SmackDown Women’s Championship twice.

She has also succeeded in the tag-team division, capturing the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship multiple times alongside partners such as Nikki Cross and Asuka.

Her winning of both major singles women’s titles and the tag-team title places her among the elite in women’s professional wrestling, and in fact she became the second woman in WWE history to achieve the “Women’s Triple Crown” (singles Raw, singles SmackDown, and women’s tag-team titles).

Beyond championship belts, Bliss is known for her signature finishing move “Twisted Bliss” and her mic-work, character transformations, and versatility—moving from playful “goddess” persona to darker, more sinister character arcs.

Personal life

Outside the ring, Bliss is known for her strong personal story and relatable humanity.

She has spoken publicly about her battle with an eating disorder in her teens, and more recently about a skin cancer diagnosis (basal-cell carcinoma) in 2023, showing her willingness to share challenges and advocate for health and body-positivity.

In her personal life, she began dating musician Ryan Cabrera in early 2020, and the couple were married on April 9, 2022. In November 2023, they welcomed their first child, a daughter.

Bliss is also an avid Disney fan, she cites long-standing annual trips to Walt Disney World with her family in childhood despite modest means, as part of her formative experiences of joy and aspiration.
