Shabana FC Secretary General Elizaphan Kerama has unveiled ambitious plans that could transform the club’s future, including the construction of a new modern stadium to complement Gusii Stadium and the near completion of a state-of-the-art team bus.
Speaking live on Egesa FM, Kerama revealed that Tore Bobe is in discussions with Kisii County Governor Paul Simba Arati regarding broader sports infrastructure development in the region.
Shabana currently plays its home matches at Gusii Stadium, a facility owned by the Kisii County Government. For decades, fans and stakeholders have urged Kenya’s football giants, such as Gor Mahia, AFC Leopards, and Shabana itself, to invest in dedicated stadiums. Now, Shabana supporters may finally have reason to celebrate.
Kerama disclosed that adequate land has been identified at the Kisii ASK Showgrounds, where the new modern stadium is expected to be built.
Once completed, the facility will complement Gusii Stadium, which will continue hosting Shabana and other teams, including Shabana Starlets, Shabana Youth, and Gucha Stars, who are currently competing in the National Super League (NSL).
The planned developments reflect remarks made by President William Ruto during his visit to Kisii on Saturday, 22 November 2025. The Head of State criticised the condition of Gusii Stadium, saying it does not reflect the stature of Shabana, one of the country’s most passionately supported clubs.
“This stadium is below standard, yet Kisii is home to one of the country’s biggest teams, Shabana,” Ruto said at the time.

He noted that expansion efforts had been stalled by the presence of the Agricultural Society of Kenya, which occupies about five acres within the stadium grounds. To facilitate the upgrade, the government identified 12 acres elsewhere to accommodate ASK’s relocation.
“My team is already on site, and I am waiting for Governor Simba Arati to complete the necessary paperwork. The delays are holding us back,” the President added, confirming that a contractor is on standby.
Kerama also provided an update on the club’s highly anticipated modern team bus. He confirmed that the vehicle is now 90 per cent complete, with bodywork finalised and seat installation underway. Painting is scheduled to begin next week, marking the final phase before delivery.
The bus is a donation from President Ruto, following a request from the club for support in acquiring a modern transport solution.
According to Shabana, the President oversaw the procurement process through East Africa Motors after the recommended chassis specifications were not immediately available locally.
The imported chassis has since arrived in the country, and body construction is being carried out in partnership with Master Fabricators Ltd. The project is expected to take between 60 and 90 working days, depending on the club’s specifications.
