A person familiar with the situation surrounding embattled Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Chief Executive Officer Harold Ndege has dismissed claims questioning his competence following the issuance of a show-cause letter late last year.
Speaking anonymously, the source said Ndege maintains his innocence and has no intention of stepping down, arguing that there is a deliberate effort to push him out of office.
According to the source, the friction stems from Ndege’s firm stance on due process and accountability in the administration of the federation, a position that has reportedly put him at odds with some senior officials.
The source also responded to several accusations made against the CEO. On claims that Ndege failed to inform the FKF President about an invitation from a Parliamentary Committee, the source clarified that the meeting in question was postponed to February 2026 after the President indicated he would be unavailable.
“Ndege communicated the President’s absence to the committee, which agreed to defer the meeting. All parties involved were fully informed of the change,” the source said.
Addressing allegations of mismanagement involving the Kenya Under-15 team, the source stated that Ndege had advised against the team’s participation in a continental tournament in Uganda due to a lack of funding and concerns over preparedness.
“Despite his objections, a person close to the federation’s top leadership chose to finance the trip. Ndege made it clear he would not take responsibility for the outcome once the decision to travel was made,” the source explained, adding that the CEO has documented email correspondence absolving him of blame.
The source further rejected claims of habitual absenteeism and failure to perform official duties, noting that Ndege’s contract allows him to work away from his designated office when necessary, an arrangement known to FKF leadership.
On the issue of unauthorised travel, the source said Ndege’s only recent trip was to attend a CAF management course that brought together general secretaries from 35 member associations, describing it as a valuable engagement for the federation.
Ndege has since secured a court order preventing his removal from office. FKF had been expected to deliberate on his possible dismissal this Thursday.
