Vini Jr. to Reject New Real Madrid Deal After Fallout With Alonso

Real Madrid forward Vinícius Júnior is reportedly considering turning down a new contract at the club following a growing fallout with head coach Xabi Alonso, a development that has cast fresh uncertainty over his long-term future at the Santiago Bernabéu.

The tension between the Brazilian star and the manager has deepened in recent weeks, and sources close to the negotiation process now suggest that Vinícius is unwilling to enter advanced renewal talks until his relationship with Alonso improves significantly.

The situation escalated after Real Madrid’s recent victory over Barcelona in El Clásico, during which Vinícius reacted angrily to being substituted in the 72nd minute. He appeared visibly frustrated as he left the pitch and walked down the tunnel, reportedly saying, “Always me… I’m leaving the team, it’s better if I leave, I’m leaving.”

The emotional outburst immediately ignited speculation about his future, with many interpreting it as a sign of deeper frustrations rather than a momentary reaction to being taken off.

While Real Madrid chose not to impose disciplinary measures on him after the incident, the lack of punishment has not eased concerns within the club about the player’s state of mind or his commitment beyond his current deal.

Sources familiar with the matter indicate that contract talks, which had been active earlier this year, have now stalled, largely due to the deteriorating relationship between Vinícius and Alonso.

Reports indicate that Vinícius has made it clear he does not want to renew “while his relationship with head coach Alonso remains so strained.” Those close to the player say he feels the manager does not fully trust his style of play or his decision-making on the pitch, a belief that has created tension in training sessions and matchday environments.

According to people familiar with the discussions, Vinícius feels increasingly misunderstood by Alonso and is unsure whether the manager sees him as a long-term pillar of the project.

For his part, Alonso has attempted to publicly downplay any rift. Addressing the media after the Clásico controversy, he said, “We had a meeting with everyone on Wednesday. Vinícius was very good, impeccable. He spoke from the heart, with sincerity, and for me the matter is settled.”

The coach added that there would be “no reprisals,” insisting that the issue had been handled internally and amicably. But despite those assurances, the atmosphere remains uneasy. Sources indicate that the two men “do not have a relationship to speak of,” and communication between them outside of obligatory team settings has reportedly become minimal.

Real Madrid, aware of the growing tension, is attempting to navigate the conflict without undermining the authority of their manager or alienating one of their most valuable players. The club had planned to offer Vinícius a new long-term deal next summer, potentially keeping him until 2030.

However, the winger had previously demanded a wage package that could reach up to €30 million per season including bonuses – a figure that would place him among the highest-earning players in the club’s history. Negotiations have been complex, and the recent fallout has only added another layer of difficulty.

Former Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti also weighed in on the situation. Speaking after the Clásico incident, he explained that he had privately told Vinícius he was wrong to react the way he did and that the player had apologized.

According to Ancelotti, the matter was “resolved,” but resolving the emotional aftermath has proven far more complicated than smoothing over a single outburst.

Within the club, the issue is seen less as an organizational crisis and more as a personal conflict between coach and player. However, with Vinícius under contract until 2027, Real Madrid must weigh the risks of allowing this tension to continue.

If the standoff persists, the player could enter the final stretch of his deal with the freedom to negotiate a future move – an unthinkable prospect for a player many see as central to the next generation of the team.

There is also growing recognition that the club cannot afford a prolonged rift between one of its marquee stars and its newly appointed head coach. Alonso, who was brought in to usher in a new era, is still establishing his authority within the squad.

Vinícius, meanwhile, has become one of the club’s most marketable figures and a critical attacking force. Any long-term incompatibility between the two threatens not only sporting continuity but also squad harmony.
