Kenyan international footballer Masoud Juma has officially declared his intention to vie for the Member of Parliament seat in Isiolo North Constituency during the 2027 General Elections.
Juma, who currently plays for Nejmeh FC in Lebanon, hails from the former Eastern Province. The forward made the announcement through his Instagram account, outlining the six main pillars of his campaign.
The first of these pillars focuses on youth opportunities. He emphasized his commitment to creating programs for skills training, job creation, and supporting entrepreneurship.
Infrastructure development also forms a key part of Juma’s agenda. He plans to advocate for better roads, hospitals, access to clean water, and electricity in the constituency.
On sports, Juma pledged to prioritize talent development, using grassroots initiatives to curb crime and drug abuse among young people.
Fighting poverty and inequality remains another cornerstone of the campaign for the 2017 Kenya Premier League season’s ‘Golden Boot’ winner. “Additionally, Juma is pledging good governance and non-tolerance of corruption,” his announcement stated.
The footballer, who has had professional stints in Morocco, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Algeria, and Iran, said he will seek votes based on principles of unity and justice.
However, Juma did not specify the political party under which he will run or whether he will contest as an independent candidate.
Earlier this year, Juma was part of the Harambee Stars squad that took part in the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) held in August.
