Kakamega Homeboyz have bolstered their technical bench with two key additions as they step up preparations for the 2025/26 FKF Premier League season.
The Kakamega-based side confirmed the return of Erick Muranda, who rejoins the club for a second spell, and the arrival of rising goalkeeper trainer James Ombeng.
Muranda, who was previously with KCB FC as a fitness and conditioning coach, has been reinstated to the same position at Homeboyz.
His comeback marks a reunion, having served in a similar role between 2020 and 2022 under then-head coach Bernard Mwalala, before the entire bench was disbanded in July 2022.
In a statement, the 2023 Mozzart Bet Cup winners officially welcomed him back: “We are delighted to confirm the appointment of coach Erick Muranda to our technical bench. Coach Muranda returns for his second stint with the club, having previously served for two years between the 2020 and 2022 seasons.
“He rejoins us as the fitness and conditioning coach, bringing valuable expertise and experience to strengthen our technical team. Welcome back home, coach Muranda,” the club announced.
Alongside him, Homeboyz have brought in goalkeeper coach James Ombeng, who was previously attached to TBM Health FC in the same role.
He takes over the position left vacant after coach John Waw departed in July to join Tanzanian side Pamba Jiji FC, alongside head coach Francis Baraza.
Ombeng has steadily built his career with stints at Gaspo Women, Equity FC, Gor Mahia, and KCB, working in various capacities, including volunteer coaching roles. At Homeboyz, his focus will be to build on the foundation laid by Waw, whose work produced 19 clean sheets across all competitions last season.
The reshuffle also sees Paul Okatwa and Hesbon Naybinge continue in their roles as assistant coaches as the club fine-tunes its technical structure ahead of the new campaign.
