Wolverhampton Wanderers have announced today, August 19, 2025, the signing of Jackson Tchatchoua, a dynamic and lightning-quick right-wing-back, from Hellas Verona. The club confirmed the transfer in a formal statement, revealing that the 23-year-old Cameroon international has committed to a five-year contract, with the option of adding a further 12 months.
The acquisition, valued at approximately £10 million (about €12–12.5 million), comes as Wolves look to reinforce their defensive options following the departure of Nélson Semedo to Fenerbahçe on July 31.
Wolves also see this as another important addition in their summer recruitment drive, with Tchatchoua being the fourth arrival following striker Fer López, winger Jhon Arias, and defender David Møller Wolfe.
Jackson Tchatchoua arrives with an impressive pedigree. While at Verona, he established a reputation for his blistering pace, recording a top speed of 36.3 km/h, the fastest in Serie A last season.
His offensive contributions during the 2024–25 term were modest but valuable, tallying two goals and three assists across 36 league appearances.
Wolves manager Vítor Pereira heralded the move as a timely and tactical upgrade. “I am waiting for the help of the club to sign new players,” he remarked after the recent home defeat to Manchester City, underlining ongoing ambitions to further bolster the squad with a forward and a midfielder before the close of the summer window.
Born on September 14, 2001, in Ixelles, Belgium, Tchatchoua rose through the youth ranks of Standard Liège, OH Leuven, and finally Charleroi, where he turned professional in June 2021. He made his professional debut for Charleroi in July 2021 against Oostende and notched his first goal later that December against Genk.
In August 2023, he moved to Hellas Verona on loan, where he made an immediate impact with his debut assist against Frosinone, earning him a permanent move a year later. During his time in Italy, he featured prominently, including 36 league appearances in 2024–25, helping Verona maintain their Serie A status.
Internationally, though born in Belgium, Tchatchoua pledged allegiance to Cameroon. He earned his first senior cap during a World Cup qualifier, Cameroon’s 4–1 win over Cape Verde in June 2024. He has since accumulated ten appearances for the national team.
Upon arrival at Molineux, Tchatchoua expressed enthusiasm and admiration for the club’s heritage. “I feel good. I feel happy to be here and I’m excited,” he shared. “The Premier League is one of my dreams … the history of the club, the stadium, the fans, this convinced me.” He reflected on his time in Italy as a period of tactical growth. “I learned a lot on the defensive phase, the tactics … being focused on this,” he added, noting that the experience has prepared him well for England’s top flight.
Known for his versatility, Tchatchoua is comfortable playing both as a wing-back or full-back. “I can play wing-back, I can play full-back … I will play the position the coach puts me on the pitch, for the team and for the coach,” he said.
On his early impressions of the club, he noted: “My first impressions are that we have everything here … I feel a good atmosphere in this club. I’m very excited to play. It’s one of my dreams, and I want to conquer this dream.”
