Jackson Tchatchoua’s journey from the streets of Ixelles to the heights of the Premier League charts a pathway marked by adaptability, pace, and international ambition.
Born on 14 September 2001 in Ixelles, Belgium, Tchatchoua first made his mark as a youth at Ixelles SC before navigating through esteemed academies at Standard Liège and OH Leuven, ultimately landing in the youth set-up at Charleroi. It was there that his professional chapter truly began.
At Charleroi, the teenage Tchatchoua debuted in Belgium’s First Division A on 24 July 2021, entering as a substitute in a match against Oostende. His ascent was swift.
By December of that year, he had scored his first senior goal, firing one past Genk in a match that showcased his attacking instincts from the right flank. Across two seasons with Charleroi, he made sixty league appearances, finding the net twice, while contributing consistently to their campaigns.
In the summer of 2023, Tchatchoua embarked on a career-defining move, joining Serie A’s Hellas Verona on loan before the transfer was made permanent. During his initial spell, he impressed swiftly—registering a debut assist against Frosinone and holding his own against Italian heavyweights like Napoli and Juventus. His performances secured a permanent transfer.
The 2024–25 season proved a launchpad. Tchatchoua played in 36 of Verona’s Serie A games, adding two goals and three assists to his tally.
His raw speed became a talking point: he recorded a blistering top speed of 36.3 km/h—the fastest in Italy’s top flight that season—and was awarded the inaugural Frecciarossa Speed Award in recognition of that feat.
Internationally, Tchatchoua opted to represent Cameroon, embracing his heritage. He was first called up to the Cameroon under-23s in March 2023, before earning his senior debut in a World Cup qualifier against Cape Verde in Yaoundé on 8 June 2024—a convincing 4–1 victory.since then, he has become a regular fixture, amassing ten caps by March 2025.
Wolves confirmed the deal on 19 August 2025, locking him in on a five-year contract, which includes the option for an additional 12 months—potentially running through to 2031. Reports estimate the fee at around €12–12.5 million.
The official Wolves club statement underscored what he brings: a Cameroon international fresh from two seasons in Italy’s top tier, and the recipient of Italy’s speed accolade.
Manager Vítor Pereira has pointed to Tchatchoua as a direct upgrade on their former wing-back—replacing the commanding Nélson Semedo—and highlighted his role in reinforcing Wolves’ defensive and attacking dimensions. “Our supporters, they are fantastic. I’m very proud of them, very proud of my team, proud of our work, proud of our club, all the staff. We know we can build in the future,” Pereira reflected, underscoring the greater project to which Tchatchoua now belongs.
Tchatchoua himself has expressed his excitement. In his first Wolves interview, he shared, “It’s a football club on a great, great journey and I’m just privileged to be part of it.” This sense of optimism is mutual: recruitment staff revealed that they began tracking his progression in Belgium, but Verona’s Serie A tests crystallized their interest, particularly as he displayed a commanding personality and relentless motor on the pitch.
