African football legends Victor Wanyama (Kenya), Denis Onyango (Uganda), and Mrisho Ngasa (Tanzania) have officially unveiled the new trophy for the upcoming TotalEnergies CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN), PAMOJA 2024.
The launch of the trophy comes as anticipation builds for the continental tournament, set to take place from August 2 to 30, 2025, across Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania.
In a specially produced video released to mark the unveiling, the trio of football icons highlighted the symbolism behind the new design and its connection to African football’s spirit and identity.
The introduction of the new trophy is part of a wider rebranding of the CHAN tournament under the PAMOJA 2024 banner, aimed at celebrating the rich cultural heritage, unity, and footballing excellence that define the African game.
Speaking during the unveiling, former Harambee Stars captain and ex-Tottenham Hotspur and CF Montreal star Victor Wanyama said: “The land of Harambee, we rise together.”
Crafted with a sleek fusion of gold and silver tones, the trophy reflects the prestige and rising profile of CHAN within African football. A notable feature is the 54 engraved lines surrounding the trophy—each representing one of the CAF member nations.
At the heart of the design is a map of Africa, reinforcing the tournament’s pan-African vision and celebrating the diversity and unity of the continent’s football community.
The artistic elements of the trophy embody the championship’s core ideals: unity, diversity, and the relentless progress of African football. Each line etched into the design tells a story of passion, resilience, and the enduring legacy of African players and fans.
The PAMOJA 2024 CHAN trophy not only signifies the growth of the tournament but also underlines its role in nurturing homegrown talent and advancing the sport across the continent.
Kenya’s Harambee Stars have been placed in Group A and will face a challenging lineup that includes two-time winners DR Congo and Morocco.
Their group stage also features encounters with Zambia and Angola, with all Group A matches slated for the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani. Harambee Stars will kick off their campaign against DR Congo on Sunday, August 3.
