Crystal Palace have confirmed the high-profile acquisition of Spanish winger Yeremy Pino from Villarreal, marking a significant arrival as the club eyes fresh momentum for the upcoming season.
The Canary Islands-born forward, aged 22, has put pen to paper on a five-year contract, arriving at Selhurst Park for a fee around £26 million, including add-ons—just shy of Christian Benteke’s 2016 club-record transfer of £27 million.
Pino becomes the latest figure to fill the void left by the departure of Eberechi Eze, who joined Arsenal in one of the summer’s most significant Premier League moves—a £68 million sale that has empowered Palace’s activity in the transfer market. Taking the iconic number 10 shirt worn by Eze, Pino steps into both a physical and symbolic role within the team.
In his first public remarks as a Crystal Palace player, Pino declared: “I’m very happy to be here. It is a dream of mine to come to the Premier League, to a historic club like Crystal Palace, and I hope that I can help the team.”
His arrival came after an initial offer of €25 million was rejected, along with a contract renewal proposed by Villarreal that failed to match his ambitions. A subsequent improved offer—€30 million plus variables—finally persuaded both club and player to agree to the move.
According to reports, the deal comprises around £21 million plus £5 million in add-ons, putting it tantalizingly close to becoming Palace’s record fee, a title currently held by Benteke.
Villarreal also released a statement expressing gratitude: “The club is grateful for his dedication, professionalism, and commitment throughout his long and successful journey as a Villarreal player… we wish him the very best of luck in his new professional chapter.”
Chairman Steve Parish shared his excitement: “It’s fantastic news that Yeremy—an exciting young talent, with already such an impressive record in domestic, European and international football—has chosen us as the next step in his career.”
Pino leaves Villarreal after a meaningful tenure that included 170 appearances, 22 goals, and 23 assists across all competitions since his senior debut in 2020. Perhaps most notably, he helped the club win the UEFA Europa League in 2020–21 and earned several caps (15) for the Spanish national team by age 22, highlighting his pedigree at both club and international levels.
