Formula One sensation Oscar Piastri is set to receive a monumental honor at his home race, the Australian Grand Prix, in 2026. The 24-year-old McLaren driver will have a grandstand named after him at the Albert Park Circuit, a testament to his remarkable rise in the sport.
The Piastri Grandstand will be situated on the main straight, directly opposite the pit lane, offering fans a prime vantage point of the action. It will be part of an expanded structure alongside the existing Fangio Grandstand, providing some of the most premium seating at the circuit.
This accolade places Piastri among a distinguished group of Australian drivers who have had grandstands named in their honor at Albert Park. The likes of Sir Jack Brabham, Alan Jones, Mark Webber, and Daniel Ricciardo have all been similarly recognized.
Piastri’s journey to this point has been nothing short of extraordinary. Born in Melbourne, he transitioned from karting to Formula 1 with remarkable speed. After securing the 2021 Formula 3 Championship and the 2022 Formula 2 Championship, he made his F1 debut with McLaren in 2023.
Since then, Piastri has consistently demonstrated his skill and determination on the track. As of August 2025, he leads the World Drivers’ Championship, having achieved a record-breaking six wins and three second-place finishes in a single season.
Despite his success, Piastri has yet to secure a podium finish at the Australian Grand Prix. In 2025, he was running in second place when a late-race spin relegated him to ninth. Nevertheless, his performance was a testament to his potential and the support he commands from his home crowd.
The announcement of the Piastri Grandstand was met with enthusiasm from fans and officials alike. Piastri expressed his gratitude, stating, “I’m very excited by the news that I’ll have my own grandstand at next year’s Australian Grand Prix. It feels very surreal, and I never thought this would happen but the support is incredible and I can’t wait to see it all come together next March.”

Australian Grand Prix Corporation CEO Travis Auld highlighted the significance of the honor, noting, “Clearly he is very comfortable at the elite level, and making his presence felt which is brilliant, and representing Australia in the way that the country likes to be represented.”
The 2026 Australian Grand Prix is scheduled to take place from March 5–8, 2026. Tickets for the event are set to go on sale to the public on September 10, 2025.
