Calais Campbell, born on September 1, 1986, in Denver, Colorado, is a towering figure in the NFL, both literally and figuratively. Standing at 6 feet 8 inches and weighing approximately 307 pounds, Campbell has carved out a remarkable career as a defensive end and tackle, known for his blend of size, athleticism, and leadership. Siblings

Calais was raised alongside seven siblings—two sisters and five brothers—in a tight-knit family that faced significant challenges but remained united. His sisters, Kimba Blaylock and Keyonne Campbell, have been integral parts of the family’s support system. Kimba, the eldest sibling, resides in Atlanta, Georgia, with her husband, Driva Clarke, and their two sons. She maintains a relatively private life but shares the family’s commitment to community through her involvement in the Charles Richard Campbell (CRC) Foundation, established in memory of their father. Keyonne, like her siblings, contributes to the foundation’s mission of teaching life skills to young people, reflecting the family’s collective dedication to giving back.

The five Campbell brothers—Jamar, Raj, Ciarre, Severin, and Jared—each pursued their own paths, with several following Calais into football. Jamar, a private individual, graduated from Northwestern University with a degree in economics and works at LenCred, a financial services company. Raj played college football at Butte Junior College and later transitioned into a real estate career, leveraging his associate’s degree. Ciarre, another football-playing brother, competed at Colorado State University, showcasing the family’s athletic inclination. Severin played college football at the University of Montana, further cementing the Campbell brothers’ presence in the sport. Jared, the youngest of the football-playing siblings, shared the field with Calais at the University of Miami and briefly with the Arizona Cardinals as an undrafted defensive back in 2011. After retiring from football, Jared pivoted to a successful career as a sports comedian, appearing on shows like The League and That Other Pregame Show, and co-founding a production company with Calais. Together, the Campbell siblings have upheld their father’s legacy through education, athletics, and philanthropy, with five of the six brothers earning college degrees.

Career

Campbell’s NFL career spans an impressive 17 seasons, beginning when the Arizona Cardinals selected him in the second round (50th overall) of the 2008 NFL Draft. A standout at the University of Miami, where he recorded 19 sacks and earned First-Team All-ACC honors in 2006, Campbell quickly established himself as a versatile and dominant defensive lineman. His nine seasons with the Cardinals (2008-2016) saw him amass 56.5 sacks, ranking third in franchise history, along with 501 tackles and 42 passes defensed. In 2017, Campbell signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars, where he achieved a career-high 14.5 sacks in his first season, earning First-Team All-Pro honors.

He later played for the Baltimore Ravens (2020-2022), Atlanta Falcons (2023), and Miami Dolphins (2024) before returning to the Cardinals in 2025. Known for his run-stopping prowess and pass-rushing ability, Campbell has recorded 110.5 career sacks, 908 tackles, and a league-leading 266 quarterback hits among active players as of 2024. Off the field, his leadership extends to media and philanthropy, including co-hosting radio shows like Big Red Rage and Jaguars All Access, and producing projects through his sports comedy production company, The Team Network.

Accolades

Campbell’s career is decorated with accolades that reflect his excellence on and off the field. A six-time Pro Bowl selection (2014-2015, 2017-2020), he was named to the NFL All-Decade Team of the 2010s by the Pro Football Hall of Fame. In 2017, he earned First-Team All-Pro honors as a defensive end and Second-Team All-Pro as a defensive tackle, showcasing his versatility. Campbell’s community service has been equally recognized, with the 2019 NFL Walter Payton Man of the Year Award highlighting his commitment to youth development through the CRC Foundation.

He also received the 2023 NFLPA Alan Page Community Award, the 2022 Art Rooney Sportsmanship Award, and the 2019 Bart Starr Award for outstanding character and leadership. Twice named the Cardinals’ Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year nominee (2011, 2014), Campbell’s impact extends beyond statistics, embodying the values of resilience and service instilled by his family. In 2024, he was honored with the Don Shula Leadership Award during his stint with the Dolphins, further cementing his legacy as a leader.
