Paris Saint-Germain’s 19-year-old sensation Désiré Doué has responded to comparisons with former PSG star and current Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappé, emphasizing his desire to carve his own path in football. In a recent interview with French outlet Téléfoot, Doué acknowledged the flattery but made it clear he’s focused on being his own player.
“I’ve been told about the comparisons, but I’m Désiré Doué, Kylian is Kylian,” the young attacker said. “He’s a sensational player, and I respect him greatly, but I want to create my own story.”
The comparisons stem from Doué’s explosive breakthrough season at PSG, where he has become a cornerstone of the club’s post-Mbappé era. Since joining from Rennes last summer for a reported €50 million, Doué has dazzled with his versatility, flair, and goal-scoring ability. His eight goals and eight assists in 37 appearances this season, including a stunning long-range strike in PSG’s 3-1 Champions League quarter-final win over Aston Villa, have drawn inevitable parallels to Mbappé’s early days at the Parc des Princes.
Doué’s performances have been pivotal as PSG clinched their fourth consecutive Ligue 1 title with an unbeaten record, boasting an 82.1% win rate—the highest in the club’s QSI era. His recent Ligue 1 Player of the Month award for March, where he scored three goals and provided two assists, further underscores his growing influence.
While Mbappé, now 25, continues to dominate headlines with his prolific scoring at Real Madrid and a high-profile legal dispute with PSG over €55 million in unpaid wages, Doué represents the fresh face of a revitalized Parisian project under manager Luis Enrique. The teenager’s Neymar-inspired dribbling and fearless approach have earned praise, with Enrique calling him a player with “everything needed to become great.”
Despite interest from clubs like Manchester United, PSG have signaled their intent to keep Doué, reportedly setting his valuation at €300 million to ward off suitors. For now, the young star remains grounded, focused on helping PSG chase their elusive Champions League dream.
“I’m here to grow, to learn, and to win with this team,” Doué said. “The fans and the club believe in me, and I want to repay that trust.”
